Welcome The Jefferson High School Guidance and Counseling curriculum is designed to assist all students with their individual development in the areas of personal, social, educational, and career growth. It is an articulated program focused on individual competencies. It is designed as a team approach, recognizing the joint responsibilities of counselors, teachers, administrators, parents, communities , and individual students as important factors in its implementation. It is designed to provide pro-active information to assist students in making appropriate decisions at appropriate times. It will also provide responsive services of counseling and referral when necessary. The overall program will be monitored, evaluated, and redirected regularly as an integral part of the educational system. Professional school counselors are advocates, leaders, collaborators and consultants who create opportunities for equity in access and success in educational opportunities by connecting their programs to the missions of the schools and subscribing to and following certain professional ethics and responsibilities. Dear visitor,
I would like to welcome you to the Jefferson High School
Counseling Department. My name is Shane Dempsey. This is my fifth year
as the guidance counselor at Jefferson High. In addition to my years of
educational experience, I spent 15 years in the private business
sector. This business experience has allowed me to get a "real feel"
for the skills and abilities our students need to be successful
in careers after high school.
Our counseling/guidance program offers a wide variety of services
for our students freshman through senior. Please take the opportunity
to review the Counseling/Career Services in the Parent/Student
Resources section. I am very proud of our counseling department and on
behalf of Jefferson High School, I would cordially like to invite you

Where to Go !!!!!
There is a tremendous amount of information available regarding student's options after high school. It can sometimes seem overwhelming for the student as well as the parents. Don't worry, I am here to help. I promise you that things are much simpler than they seem. Our counseling department has the information and the expertise to make this journey more enjoyable and much less intimidating.
